This week's Expositor's Quote is from a letter G. Campbell Morgan wrote in 1900 to a fellow preacher:
Nothing is more needed among preachers today than that we should have the courage to shake ourselves free from the thousand and one trivialities in which we are asked to waste our time and strength, and resolutely return to the apostolic ideal which made necessary the office of the diaconate. [We must resolve that] "we will continue stedfastly (sic) in prayer, and in the ministry of the Word."

[What trivialities eat into your time? Are you neglecting your spiritual gift by focusing on administration and building programs? Do you have the courage and discipline to say, "No!" to requests for your time, so that you can focus on the Word and prayer? - Coty]
[The sermon I preached at the Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary graduation earlier this month, "How to Save Yourself and Others," focuses in part on this subject.]
